Walkers with an interest in photography are being encouraged to enter a new photo competition being run during this year’s Dudley Trail.
Anyone can take part in the competition by capturing interesting images from the borough on cameras, ipads or smartphones. The event on Sunday 6 May offers walks of six, nine, 12, 20 and 28 miles, taking in hidden beauty spots and areas of our industrial heritage.
The competition offers four chances to win a family ticket to Himley bonfire (3 November). The winning photos will be chosen by the Mayor of Dudley, Cllr Dave Tyler in the week following 6 May. Two from the adult category and two from the children under 14 category. All photos, including the four winners’ will be uploaded to the council’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
All walks start from Dudley Leisure Centre at designated times between 8am and noon. Councillor Dave Tyler, Mayor of Dudley, said:
“The Dudley Trail is a popular event, attracting more than 2,000 people each year. The addition of the photo competition will hopefully attract some budding photographers to take up one of the walking challenges and get snapping.”
Checkpoints are strategically placed along each of the five routes to ensure the well being and whereabouts of walkers and light refreshments are available. Everyone who completes a trail receives a certificate of achievement.
Advanced fees are £4 per person to join the 28 and 20 mile routes, £3 for the 12 and nine mile routes and £2.50 to walk the gentler six mile route. Costs will be an extra £1 for each route by booking on the day.
