Five neighbours in Wolverhampton are celebrating this weekend after sharing £180,000 thanks to their postcode.

The windfall comes after WV4 6BS was announced as a winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Saturday. The neighbours won £30,000 each, with one player taking home £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.

One of the winners was Mick McCann who learned of his £30,000 prize on a video call with People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson

Mick, who was joined on the call by his fiancé Raj Kumari, beamed as a cheque with the prize total was revealed. Raj said:

“Wow! We were expecting just over a grand! It’s fantastic. Thank you!”

The couple are entering an important year and have exciting plans for their winnings. Mick added:

“We’re planning on getting married later this year, if we’re allowed to. It will go towards a house as well.

“It takes a lot of pressure off of us with it going towards a house and wedding, it’s going to make our dreams come true this year, hopefully.” 

Another winner was Clare Pickin (47) who was shocked to see she had won £30,000. She said:

“Oh my goodness, that’s amazing, it really is. I’ve never got anything like that before. I’m lost for words!”

When asked how she spend her winnings the pharmacy technician added:

“Probably a nice holiday ‘cause I’ve been working for so long now. For me it would just be to go away for a week somewhere nice.

“It doesn’t have to be abroad, there’s plenty of nice places in the UK. Just to go away somewhere for the week and chill.”

The other winners chose to remain anonymous but their prizes will be paid directly into their bank accounts.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson sent his congratulations to the winners. He said: “What amazing news for Mick, Raj, Clare and all of our other winners in Wolverhampton. I hope Mick and Raj get the wedding of their dreams and that Clare gets that lovely holiday too!”

Everyday throughout the January draws one postcode will be announced as a £30,000 prize winner. All the players in the postcode will win £30,000 for every ticket they hold.
