Football fanatics will be in for a treat next week when Wolverhampton Wanderers star, Danny Batth, officially opens Dudley’s new Sunday market.
The football star will be joined by the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Mohammed Hanif, at the Flood Street car park market on Sunday 2nd October at 10am.
Dudley Council is working with Black Country Market to run the new markets, which started on Sunday 25th September. Stalls will be open every week from 10am to 4pm and will include a wide variety of produce including toys, plants, clothing, food and antiques. In the run up to Christmas, a range of seasonal goods and accessories will be on offer.
A funfair will provide weekly entertainment and there will also be a weekly car boot sale, with free parking on Flood Street, for all visitors for the first four weeks. Balbir Singh, manager of Black Country Market, said:
“We’re delighted that Danny and the Mayor are coming to our official market launch. We have a wide range of stalls with something on offer for everyone starting from Sunday.”
Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for planning and economic development, said:
“Dudley is a fantastic town centre with a great retail offer throughout the week and this new market will help to add further attraction. I would encourage everyone who enjoys shopping to come along and try out the markets for themselves.”
