Brierley Hill Primary School have worked with intu Merry Hill on a short story project as part of the and the intu Big Birdhouse tour. The RSPB Big Birdhouse Tour will be on display in the centre as part of a sixteen month national touring exhibition until the 27 February 2016.
These “human” size birdhouses have been designed by fifteen UK celebrities with their own tale to tell about how interacting with birdlife is so important to them. The colourful birdhouses have been exhibited in a bid to raise money for the UK’s largest conservation charity, the RSPB.
The fifteen celebrities are: George Clarke, architect and TV presenter; Jo Whiley. DJ; Vic Reeves, writer and comedian; Alex Jones, presenter; Iwan Thomas MBE, athlete; Richard Whitehead, athlete; Becky Adlington, Olympic athlete; Steve Backshall, naturalist; Miranda Krestovnikoff, presenter and president of the RSPB; Graham Swift, artist; Naomi Wilkinson, presenter; Will Greenwood, athlete.
Black Country Radio popped up to see what it was all about and spoke to Year 6 teacher Mrs Johnson and the three winning pupils of Brierley Hill Primary but first of all asked the Head Mrs Allport what she thought of the project. We also spoke with Professional Story teller Michelle Watson and prize giver to the children, The Mayor of Dudley.
